Specialist Car Insurance

If you have had trouble in securing insurance for your car, you probably know the reason why. There are many reasons why insurers will not insure either particular drivers or vehicles and it can be an incredibly frustrating experience to find yourself on the excluded list. A standard car insurance policy is designed to meet a number of average circumstances and therefore may not be applicable to your type of car, the purpose for which you use it, the area where you use it, or the driving record you have. For example if you work in either journalism or the entertainment industry it is likely that you will not receive a quote from an insurer offering a standard motor insurance policy.

Alternatively, if it's a classic car, a high performance car or a special commercial vehicle, you may run in to difficulty.

However, if your circumstances are difficult or unusual, don't accept the first quote you receive, because there are a number of insurers who specialise in writing various types of unusual risk and sometimes if you can find the right one their policies can save you a small fortune. The reason for grossly inflated prices is that if you fall into a 'high risk' category, the insurer will sometimes quote you a very high premium simply to discourage you from purchasing their policy.

What does Specialist Car Insurance Cover?

Specialist car insurance policies are designed for:

  1. Commercial vehicles.
  2. 4x4 off Roaders.
  3. Drivers with adverse driving records including previous claims, convictions, or zero no claims bonus.

Where Can I Find Specialist Car Insurance

If you have been unable to find a decent motor insurance premium so far, this does not mean insurers do not provide for your special requirements, it is more a question of knowing where to look. National insurers spend much of their time and effort advertising to people with standard requirements because this is the largest sector of the car insurance market. To find a competitive specialist quotation you need to look for specialist insurers, most often insurance brokers, who cater for non standard customers usually on a smaller scale than the national insurers.
